Next Door’s Puppetry

Through a window construction, Pai Litzenberger directs the gaze to the distorted image of a dark street with an adjoining house-front. They show us a voyeuristic view of the realities of a fictional neighborhood. In contrast to this quiet moment of observation, the road traffic passing by and the flashing shadows of the neighbors in their evening activities, the window frame forms a silent constant. In the midst of these clashing speeds, the life cycles of the neighbors can be observed – how they occupy, use, change and leave their surroundings. These are the same cycles that we can fix in the life of a building itself.
