Ich gebe Dir ein Wort
Pai Litzenberger plays in the performance “Ich gebe dir ein Wort” (I give you one word) in the environment of green space designer Jana Budszus. Interdisciplinary collaborations can often be found in Pai Litzenberger’s work. For the project at the Simultanhalle, Jana and Pai have combined their different perspectives and experiences and shifted the boundaries between art and landscape planning. Together they create an incisive intervention.
Jana Budszus’ cut playing field lies between the existing cracks on the Simultanhalle site. In its form, it is more memory than reality. It experiences its reality through the people performing. Filled with sand and seeds such as thyme-leaf sandwort, stonecrop and common whitlowgrass, the cut grows together with the existing mosaic over the course of the season.
The playing field is activated by Pai’s performance. Using a large ball and two sand molds, Pai and co-performer Anne Weyler print the words SPIEGELN (mirror/reflect) and BELASTEN (burden/load/pollute) on two exposed areas of the playing field. In a joint game, they transform them into new words. The words were drawn by type designer Chan Sperle. It is a playful game of leaving traces between sand and asphalt.
